# 1 Spooning
Probably the most popular position today. Spooning is when the ‘Big Spoon’ (Person behind) wraps their arms around the person in the front.
It actually goes back to the “Caveman” era. It’s to symbolise protection to the female.
# 2 Loose Spooning
This is just a less restricted version of the original.
Couples who have been together for a while tend to use this position.
It’s a way of giving each other the space you need but still touching to indicate that you’re there.
# 3 Chasing Spoon
This position is the same as the original spoon only, one of you is towards the edge of the bed and your partner is behind you and is situated as they are chasing you. This may symbolise that you want to be chased by your partner but you also want you own space.
# 4 Face To Face (Touching)
This is the position of people who are close and in love. You are facing each other while touching and legs are locked together.
To be honest, it’s good for expressing feelings in bed, but not good for a good sleep. Who wants to be breathed on for 7 – 9 hours.
# 5 Face To Face (Not touching)
Some experts say that couples who refuse to touch each other whilst in bed may have some problems in their relationship, but this isn’t always the case. A Lot of couples that have been together for years feel comfortable in bed without touching your partner. It’s called pillow-talk.
# 6 Back To Back (Touching)
Believe it or not, this is actually a very affectionate way of sleeping next to your partner.
You may not like the way that your partner is sleeping, so you’ll turn over but make sure your bum is still touching your other halves bum. It’s known as back kissing.
# 7 Back To Back (Not Touching)
Sleeping back to back with your partner is not as bad as it seems. It’s actually just a way of showing each other that you value your independence.
It’s also known as something else…. LIBERTY LOVERS!
# 8 Cliffhanger
Both of you will sleep on the edge of each side of the bed and fight to stay on the bed.
This may look like a problem for some people, but it’s actually not that bad. Both of you just feel comfortable in yourselves and you don’t need to be close for comfort.
# 9 Cradle
This is another type of spooning only, usually the man, will lie flat on his back and the lady will lie on his chest and snuggle in. This is also known as the “nuzzle”.
It’s a very passionate position, but to be honest, it can’t be that comfy to lie there all night, without getting the urge to nudge off the other half!
# 10 Tetherball
The tetherball is a great sleeping position if you both like to sleep in different positions.
One can sleep curled up, if they choose, and the other can lie flat on their back and keep the connection between the two of you by keeping one hand placed on your hip.
Even the smallest of touches in a relationship can go a long way.
# 11 Paper Dolls
The two of you will lie on your back, while holding hands or touching each other’s arm.
It’s a very intimate way of lying for a great night’s sleep. The name is as it sounds. You both look like a pair of paper dolls.
# 12 Leg Hug
This is another passionate position. It’s when you wrap your leg around your partner’s leg or you both do it together. You can see the role of the relationship by your position.
If only one of you is doing the leg wrapping, it is something to think about your partner’s position in your relationship.
# 13 Shingles
This is actually a very comfy position to sleep. It has an odd name but hey ho! It’s when you both lie on your back and one of you put your head on your partner’s shoulder.
It’s another position that experts say is for a protection method.
# 14 Tangle
This is when you are both facing each other, really close!
The tangle is not a very good sleeping position for the night. It does restrict your breathing space.
This position is very common after a moment of passion. It’s very unlikely that you’ll remain like this for the night. Breathing may be the cause of you rolling over!
# 15 Stomach Snooze
Both of you sleep face-down on the bed.
It’s brought forward by experts that this sleeping position is a clear sign of lack of trust or vulnerability in a relationship.
Also, it may cause you some physical problems like back pain or a stiff neck. My advice to you is, don’t sleep like this. You’re more comfortable on the couch!
# 16 Starfish
This actually one of the best positions to sleep in for health reasons.
You spread your whole body across the bed and get the nickname, BED HOG!
It’s good for your health because it reduces the acid that circulates around your body, so heartburn will be a goner!
It’s also good for your muscles because they have more space to relax and develop.
It’s not comfortable for your partner, so try and grab a sneaky nap in the afternoon, when your partner is not in.
# 17 Soldier
This is when you sleep flat on your back with your straight down, by your sides. You look like a soldier at attention.
It looks uncomfortable but experts say that you will get the best sleep in this position.
# 18 Fetal
Most people in the world find the fetal position the most comfy to sleep in. You’re all curled up like a fetus in a mothers womb.
The problem is, it may cause back problems because you are restricting the blood flow to your whole body.
If you like this position, try straightening your legs slightly and put a pillow between your legs.
It will make a difference.
# 19 Unravelling Knot
This is the aftermath of the previously mentioned, “The Tangle”.
When you have both fallen asleep in the tangel and you have decided you need space to breathe, you’ll both roll away from each other and resurrect your independence.
Much comfier position to sleep!
